Now i had completed my preliminary task i was able to move onto the creation of a music magazine. However before i could get started i had to do some research into a real music magazine. I was aware of different companies which owned certain magazines, for example 'Emap' owned the magazine NME. I wanted to base my magazine on the genre 'indie', as NME was of the same style i chose to go with Emap as the owner.

I analysed an exsisting copy of NME to try and find the information i needed about the target reader. It was clear that the reader of NME had to be interested in indie/rock music. NME is a British weekly music magazine. Featuring agenda-setting news, the UK's most comprehensive gig guide, definitive reviews of the week's hottest gigs, tracks and albums, and fiery comments from the nation's most opinionated writers, it's the essential guide to the week in music. The NME magazine design was a starting point for me. I was able to look at the layout and things which were included in the magazine, this would help me with the cover design and contents. NME's magazine contains lots of images and writing all packed into one space. This makes the magazine look like it is exploding with new, exclusive information.

I then analysed several NME or indie/rock related magazines. By doing this i could see the main features which had to be included to create a successful magazine. Thinggs like, mode of address, slogans, buzz words. These were all included on existing magazines. If i wanted to make my magazine the best i needed to include these features and more!
